We want to do everything we can to make your hospital stay as easy and pleasant as possible. We hope that the information provided on these pages will help you, your family and friends during your stay at our hospital.

If you have any questions about your hospital stay that are not answered on this website, please do not hesitate to telephone or e-mail us. We will be pleased to help you.

Please note that we are a smokefree hospital

Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is smokefree. This includes the buildings and grounds as well as the use of electronic cigarettes.

By being smokefree we are helping to protect the health of our patients, visitors and staff as well as making the hospital a more pleasant environment.

There is a stop smoking advisor  to help you during your stay and nicotine replacement therapy available on the ward. If you would like to be seen please ask staff on arrival in hospital.

Local stop smoking services are also available in Sefton on 0300 100 1000 and Liverpool 0800 195 2131.

Get moving in hospital

Where possible we do expect you to keep up with your home routines of getting yourself washed, dressed and going to the toilet, to avoid deconditioning –  muscle loss which takes twice as long to recover after a period of bed rest.  Getting dressed plays a large part in gaining the confidence and motivation to keep moving in hospital.

Bed rest is not the best way to recover from many illnesses or injuries and may result in a longer recovery. If you stay in bed for too long, you will struggle to get back to your normal level of activity when you go home, or your discharge could be delayed.
