About this service

The North Mersey Diabetic Eye Screening service provides routine eye screening for diabetic patients in Sefton and West Lancashire.

Diabetes can cause a range of complications, including problems with the retina (the back surface of the eye). If you are diabetic it is important to have your eyes screened annually in order to detect any eye problems from your diabetes as quickly as possible so they can be monitored or treated.

IMPORTANT: Our service is aimed at detecting early stage diabetic eye problems. If you are currently experiencing eye symptoms (such as a drop in vision, loss of vision, double vision, eye pain, or eye redness), please attend your GP, high street optician, or local A&E department.
